Fight against fraudulent communications and invoices
Our Official College of Industrial Property Agents (COAPI), as well as the Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Intellectuelle (FICPI), are members of the Anti-Scam Network, led by the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union (EUIPO) and underwritten by International Offices with the aim of deterring misleading trademark payment invoices.
As part of its efforts to raise public awareness of this phenomenon, EUIPO has produced videos available on its YouTube channel: Video animation#1 (EUIPO) and Video animation#2 (Anti-Scam Network). The purpose of these videos is to warn about the massive sending of letters of a fraudulent nature by companies that, under the false appearance of official bodies, require applicants for trademarks, patents and designs to pay certain amounts that have no real justification.
COAPI, with the help of the EUIPO, has inserted in one of the videos the Spanish subtitles for a greater diffusion, given the importance of this matter. You can access the video at this link.
We hope you find it useful and we remind you that whenever you receive a communication that generates doubts, you can contact us, your Industrial Property Agents.
